Change of Trader

Since 1 July 2007, any user is entitled to change their electricity trader in Latvia. In accordance with the applicable legislation, electricity may only be sold to users by licensed traders (the complete list of traders is available at the Public Utilities Commission website).
 
Latvenergo AS has qualified, confirming its experience in electricity trading not only at regulated tariffs but also in accordance with free market provisions, opening a world of unprecedented opportunities to its customers. Moreover, Latvenergo AS has been selling electricity to market customers since the free market opened in Latvia, allowing it to accumulate considerable experience.  

Changing traders in standard cases
The customer agrees with the trader on electricity trade provisions (price, terms, etc.).

By the 10th date of the current month before the envisaged change of trader, the customer informs their current electricity supplier and delegates the new trader to notify the system operator/ transmission system operator about the change of trader (Sadales tīkls AS or Augstsprieguma tīkls AS).

The customer concludes a system service agreement with the system operator.
On the 1st of a calendar month, the trader is changed.
